�Sports it has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. Sports can awaken hope where there was previously only despair.� Hillwoods School, Gandhinagar organized Annual Sports Meet on December 2, 2017 in the school premises. Dr. Himanshu Pandya, vice-chancellor of Gujarat University graced the occasion as the chief guest. Mr. Banwari Swaroop, Director of Hillwoods School Delhi ,was the guest of honour. R L Stevenson once quoted, �Don�t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds you plant.� It has always been the endeavor of Hillwoods School to keep the environment green and beautiful and therefore, as is the custom of the school, the honorable chief guest for the day planted a sapling as soon as he arrived. The program began with the hoisting of the school flag, followed by march past by the four houses � Nalanda, Ujjain, Takshashila, Sanchi, along with the school band , which was formed in the year 2004 and has grown in strength ever since due to the sheer dedication, devotion and hard work of the little maestros. The cadets of the four houses demonstrated the heel march by digging their heels to the ground with toes pointed upwards and swinging their arms in synchronization. It was a well coordinated march past, which was a feast to the eyes and ears. The Vice Principal, Mrs Sunita Seghal, presented the Annual School Report, which highlighted the achievements of students in the arena of sports, culture and academics. Students showcased a variety of drills, which included Yoga, Karate, Zumba, Mickey drill, Polychromasia and Lezim, the vibrance and rhythm of drills mesmerized the audience to the core. �What endurance sports teach you is to stay dedicated, stay focused and also to understand that you are going to have ups and downs, but you need to keep running right through them.� Keeping this in mind, a lot field events were held that included Kangaroo race, Chef race, Fishing race, Balancing the pot, Obstacle race, 100M race and relay race . For the closing ceremony, all the cadets of the four houses reassembled, the School Souvenir, 2017 was released by the chief guest Dr Himanshu Pandya, vice chancellor of Gujarat University which followed by the felicitation of the young achievers of the school, who brought name, fame and glory to Hillwoods School by excelling in sports at different levels. The program ended with the band playing the National Anthem which created an awesome aura of patriotism in the air.
